Both versions are typically connected to a switch on the domestic lighting circuit. The standard version will start and stop in harmony with the lighting switch.
The timer version will start with the timer switch but will continue to run-on (overrun) for a selected time period from 30 seconds to 30 minutes after the connected light switch is turned off. You select the run-on time period required during initial instalation. It can be adjusted after instalation if required, but the fan body will need to be removed from the wall/ceiling to operate the timer selector switch.
